Q &A

Frequently asked questions before purchasing.

Which devices can I use this microphone with?
If you purchase the Plug-in Power version, it can be used with compatible handheld recorders or selected audio interfaces.
Please ensure that your device’s mic input supports Plug-in Power (microphone power supply).
If you wish to use the mic with a standard XLR input that requires phantom power, choose the mini-XLR version.
With a mini-XLR to XLR adapter, it works just like a conventional condenser microphone.
What does the microphone look like?
We often receive questions about the microphone’s housing.
This microphone is designed with absolute sonic purity in mind, with only essential noise shielding applied.
The capsule and wiring are visible, but all solder points and cables are fully coated for noise protection.
The appearance is similar to popular lavalier microphones such as the Sennheiser MKE2 or DPA 4060.
Please refer to the “Appearance” section for detailed photos.

How should I position or use the microphone?
Optimal placement varies depending on the source, but a distance of approximately 33–35 cm is generally recommended.
Indoors (for choirs or wind ensembles), position the mic slightly above ear level toward the audience side to achieve a balanced capture while avoiding reflections.
For detailed setup instructions, please refer to the user manual.

How can I reduce noise when recording outdoors or in windy conditions?
Always use a windscreen when recording outdoors.
In stronger wind, layering a fur-type wind cover (boar or foam) provides additional protection.
When attaching a lavalier-style windscreen, avoid squeezing the capsule too tightly.
Which version should I choose?
Our studio originally offered only the Plug-in Power version.
Due to many customer requests, the mini-XLR version was later added.
The Plug-in Power model already provides excellent sound quality and is suitable for most users.
The mini-XLR version is recommended for intermediate to advanced users who want to fully utilize their preamps and recording gear.
Beginners, entry-level users, and video creators who don’t primarily focus on audio may prefer the Plug-in Power version, while experienced engineers or those familiar with microphones should choose the mini-XLR model.
What kind of sound quality can I expect?

Is there an XLR version available?
Initially, only the Plug-in Power version was available, but we now offer a mini-XLR version in response to customer demand.
With an appropriate adapter, it can be used just like a standard XLR condenser microphone.
Can this microphone really record any type of music?
Excellent question — thank you.
While the microphone can record virtually any sound source, some low-frequency instruments such as tubas, euphoniums, trombones, or contrabass solos contain extremely rich harmonics and are better suited to directional microphones.
Because our microphones are omnidirectional, they may capture excess overtones and produce a softer, less defined sound, especially in highly reverberant spaces like concert halls.
For solo recordings or audition materials featuring low instruments, we recommend our professional recording service.
Any tips for storage or maintenance?
Store the microphone in its case with a desiccant, away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
Avoid applying pressure to the mic capsule. Never leave it inside a hot car during summer.
